I am a filmmaker and composer who works exclusively to make moments from which nothing can be learned. Attempting to be authentic or profound, like turning on a light to get a better view of one’s shadow, is vain, among other things, and I do not wish to touch either hearts or minds. In opera, characters that endure mutilation, dismemberment and even death continue to sing. I too hope to disclose the world with a glamour proportionate to its pettiness and depravity. I work on land that has been stolen from its traditional custodians with a brutality few can comprehend.
