VCA ART 2021

Anna McGirr

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours)

Influenced by my passion for cinema and cinematography, I explore the female gaze via an embodied approach to the moving image. Through a lens-based practice of memory tracing, I create multimedia installations informed by personal and fictional narratives. In the same way you might watch your favourite movie five times over, I attempt to comfort my viewer with a cinematic trace of reality. Through visual storytelling, I subtly reveal intimate details of my lived experience through the written word, photography, video and textiles.
