VCA ART 2021

Edwina Badgery

Graduate Certificate of Visual Art

I work with diverse media, including painting, ceramics and photography. My art focuses on notions of time and momentum, and how these might be expressed in the public space. In my ceramic practice I create life-size earthenware sculptures, which are inspired by various items found in my friends’ bags. While looking through their bags (with permission), I take the opportunity to photograph the bag in the location I found it. Rummaging through someone’s bag is an intrusive and invasive act. It provides an intimate and deeply personal impression of the owner, as well as insight into the time in which the work was created in.
