Evangela Lines-Morison

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting)

Expressed through the medium of painting, my work investigates the bizarre and inexplicable qualities of different subcultures and the communities they form. Drawing inspiration from history, religion, gardening and iconography, I use found imagery to interrogate the representation of past events through photographic archives. Melding realism with kitsch aesthetics, my intimate paintings explore the indistinct boundaries between hobbies, fandom and obsession, creating an ambiguous narrative that exists in between the banal and the absurd.
