Mikayla Holland

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drawing & Printmaking)

My prints aim to push beyond the traditional boundaries of printmaking, using layering techniques to create works that visually immerse the viewer. Biomorphic and natural forms are a key element, triggering a highly subjective response, unique to the individual viewer. These and other forms are generated from observation and map references, from what I see in trees and markings of surrounding environments that are important to me. The works do not visually depict a specific place, rather they form an impression. The resulting image can only be a fragment, a trace reminiscent of a significant place.
